I'm in my mid 20s and I hate my job. I want a job that is interesting, not exactly the same everyday, I don't have to spend all day behind a desk staring at a computer screen, where I work with other people but they aren't all in my face, and where the others in the office are at least remotely intelligent and friendly. I currently work in hospitality, which is a decent industry, but I hate working overtime nearly every single day and on weekends.

I like DOING stuff more than office work, but I am happier in a management position than as a laborer. I hate being micromanaged and likewise I hate having to babysit employees. I am very detail-oriented, especially when going over written materials.

I have a degree in Media studies but I don't feel like dealing with the Hollywood scene so much; too many egos.

I want to just quit my job because I am so stressed, bored, and miserable every single day but I feel like I should have something else ready to go.

So what should I do with myself?

Sounds like you would like being a real estate agent. You are out and about all day, NOBODY tells you what to do, and you dont have to manage anyone except your time. The paper work you do requires you to be very detail oriented. You can take off as much time as you want and if you dont feel like working one day, you dont have to.

Downside to it...You are on commission so dont have a steady paycheck. If you want to make 300,000 per year, you will end up working 12 hour days.(although hours pass by VERY fast in this industry and you will probably wish there was more hours in the day.) You wont be bored in that field, unless you dont work at it and sit around doing nothing.

You can usually take some nighttime classes to get your license in about 5 or 6 weeks. Im guessing you are in los angeles, so since the average home price there is 500k, you just have to sell one house and you'll make 15k - office fees and commission split. Good luck

Best thing to do would be to find a job somewhere small with about 3-20 employees. This kind of job will be much more fun and you will feel more like a part of the hole picture. If you find a job that sounds interesting go check it out even if you not qolified. There are many employers these days that will pay for you to be trained or go to school.

Look for another job in the hospitality field that involves management. Understand that you have to work your way up in whatever job you choose. Just be patient with yourself. You are still very young.

You've told us what you hate to do. Now tell us what you love to do.
Sounds like you want to be a leader, but don't like dealing with people very much. Have you considered starting your own business? Follow your heart.

be a rep for a beverage company...i used to work at a restaurant and i always thought that would be a fun job. you work for a big liquor/wine supplier, and then you go around to restaurants and try to get people to carry your product or use your company to get their alcohol from. its easy if you get in with a well-established company. just ask a manager or bartender at an upscale restaurant who they use for their liquor rep, and try to get in with that company.
