SAline drops loosen congestion, use a nasal aspirator sparingly because if he fights or you are too aggresive, it actually will cause his membranes to swell, making it hard for him to breathe. run a humidifier or sit with him in the bathroom with the shower on before bed. And you can prop up his mattress with some books to give his nose some drainage. Ask your Dr. first but I used compresses of Colloidal Silver, and my daughter got better so fast. Dr. said her cold could take 3-5 weeks and she was better in about 2. Other than that I just say Good luck! I know it kills you to hear him not be able to breathe. I practically sat by her side the whole time I felt so bad for her to be so miserable when she was so young!

stuffy noses are normal for infants. They are nose breathers. If it interferes with feedings, or sleeping, you might try suctioning the nose out with a bulb syringe and a small drop of water. You can also use a cool mist nebulizer in the infants room. Do not use any medicated ointments, like Vicks or Mentholatum on an infant.

I'm not sure how old your baby is. Give the baby's doctor a call first before trying any methods that I or someone else may give you. When your son sleep make sure his head is elevated(you can buy a wedge and put this under the crib mattress. You may also try using a humidifier, but make sure not to run it too long, because you may create mold.

Baby tylenol, just give him the smallest dose, (0.4 ML) it doesnt say on the package for babies that small, i had this same problem. If he has a stuffy nose then go get "little noses" the regular saline drops for babies. Put two drops in each nostril then suck out the mucus with the nasal aspirator. thats what i did for my baby, and that is what her pediatrician told me to do, she is just now 3 months.

Get a vaporizer/humidier in his room and run it all night. Make sure you clean it once a week while using it because bacteria will grow in it after so long and can be blown into the air. Buy some vicks Babyrub and put it on a understirt or onesie and put pj' on over it and keep it unziped or and snaped at the neck to allow vapors to reach baby. Putting it on the skin can irritate it. Stay away from over the counter cough/cold medicines it is not recommended on infants.

all babies have some sort of congestion. it's normal. watch him when he's sleeping. his mouth is probably open. my baby's doc told me some congestion is normal as long as there is no fever.

i wouln't advise giving a baby any meds, including tylenol, without checking with the doc. i just don't want to over-medicate my kid.

if he truly has a cold, our doc said the only thing you can do is tylenol and/or "baby ayr" saline drops.she also said a humidifier may help.

My daughter caught her first cold 2 weeks ago at 6 weeks old. Her pediatrician told me to use saline drops to break up the congestion/snot, and then the aspirator, or booger sucker to pull it out. He also said to run a humidifier at night. Good luck!

You`re lucky they have, ( over the last two years), came out with Tylenol Cold for infants. Look in the cold medicine section in your local pharmacy!!
