You go to tech schools. Ones that train you specifically on how to be a mechanic. You don't go to college.

Many community colleges or technical institutes offer the training and certification. I would go for the cheapest program like at a state funded technical school. You have more resources from the school as a whole, and they will be accredited. Some of the other places (DeVry, places like that) are more expensive and they aren't always under full accredition. There is always a demand for a good mechanic, so where you go won't be as important as what you learn.
