It says on the container that only people over 18 should take it but i am deciding to use it because i feel anxiety. I am 16. (I have taken kava kava in the past too). Also, does anyone know how long it takes before you start to feel effects after taking a capsule?

I read that it was a sedative though and that it was good for stress and anxiety. The liver damage thing is very rare and the report said that most that got it were taking other medication associated with liver damage.

I would say Kava is great for anxiety. All these things about being bad for the liver? 90% if the food in the grocery store is bad for your liver, Kava is natural. Kava is a good thing to drink at night. In the morning a great way to reduce anxiety is to do some stretching and mindful breathing. However don't rely on Kava everyday, use it as more of a ritual.

Kava root is not good for you period. It can cause liver damage. Look it up on the Internet. I have anxiety and I take Clonipin under the supervision of a doctor. Also meditation and exercise help alot. Alot of herbs and roots are not FDA approved so they don't have to document the side effects. I have taken Kava but it was in a bowl and it was like dirt water. It didn't really do anything but make my tongue numb. Just research it before you take it.

You don't need kava kava. You can overcome anxiety without it. You can prevent anxiety with some simple lifestyle changes, and control it and learn to bring yourself down from an anxious state with a few simple techniques, and most importantly with the power of your own THOUGHTS. Email me if u would like details. :)
I believe it is best not to rely on ANYTHING except your own self.
