As far as the best under $50, ulsport, adidas, reusch are all good brands. I cannot really suggest a specific pair, personally I wear adidas but that is only because those are the gloves my university provides.

Glove care is essential to making them last long. Best thing to do is to wash your gloves EVERY day after practice, but NEVER EVER put them in a washing machine or dyer it will riun them completely.

Get a wet towel, not soaked but pretty damp. If you use soap use something like woolite or some other "soft" or "gentle" landury soap. Start at the palm of the glove and just wipe the glove down out towards the finger tips. Do it for every finger and you'll know when they are pretty clean because the towel will stop turning brown with dirt. WIth that, everytime you dirty a spot on the towel move to a claen place, that way you don't just put the dirt back into the glove.

Also when you dry the gloves don't put them next to a heater or anything like that just leave them either wrapped in a towel or place them plams together. If you let the foam dry out it will flake off of the gloves faster when you play.

Gloves don't last forever but if you take care of them you can get a pair to last at least a season in good shape and maybe another season in OK shape depending on how much you play, level etc.

On a final note, if you keep two plairs of gloves, one for practice one for games, this will help as well. Use either a cheap pair or your old game gloves for practice and then spend the money on a nice pair for games and games only. If you do this you will only have to buy a pair 2 or 3 times a year maybe.
