According to Fresian Facts dot com, there are about 1000 in the US and Canada. Breed websites from around the world do not list their numbers...

The first answer is pretty much correct. Friesians actually started to become nonexistent in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Thanks to shipped semen and AI it has boosted the Friesian herd number, preserving this extraordinary breed.

There use to be a website I don't know if it's still up but they give you all the facts such as where the breed originated and how many are left in the world today.
