I've always been a fan of Yanic Perrault, he's killer on faceoffs and a smart all round player. The Leafs haven't had a bonafide #2 center behind Sundin for what seems like forever and this would seem to address that. However, he's not getting any younger and I believe Brandon Bell could develop into a solid top four defenseman very few years down the road. If the Leafs miss the playoffs, this will have been a bad deal, but if they make it, it is likely worth the price as long as they can resign him.

Phoenix signed Perrault for a song and they parlayed him into a top 6 d-man and a solid draft pick. Good trade for a team not making the playoffs.

Also a good trade for the Leafs as they make their playoff push. Perrault is stellar on faceoffs and can help out on one of the pp units.

I think it's a good thing that Perreault got out of Phoenix. That place is such a disaster. Now he's back on his old team and he can hopefully help them make the playoffs.
