My fathers name is Sal or Salah and i would really like to honor him somehow in my childs name .i dont know yet whether i am having a boy or girl but i have been unable to come up with anything remotely pleasant sounding. i would like to stay away from Salvador but if anyone has any other ideas (sal does not have to be the first part of the name, it can be the middle or end also) . Boy and girl name ideas appreciated.
thank you

his name is Salah but he goes by Sal, is it insulting if i use Salah as a middle name for a girl? In egypt (where my family is from) it is normal for a girl to have her fathers name as her middle name but i think here it would have a negative connotation right?

Saline or Salina are pretty for a girl. Salah is also pretty. It sounds kind of like Sarah. Arianna Salah sounds nice.
Sal works as a middle name for a boy. Christopher Sal, Daniel Sal, Micheal Sal, for example.

well sal or salah which ever it is could be a girl or a boys name i would put it as the his/her middle name though not the first name.
heather salah
ashley salah
shalene salah
chay salah
david sal
robbie sal
nathan sal
michael sal
mitchel sal
robin sal
lauren salah
if it is a girl you should use salah it sounds more girly, but if it is a boy you should use sal it is more manly.
well congrats
and i hope this helps

No I don't thinkso. I knew a family where all the kids had their fathers middle name; girls as well as boys.
I know a woman who named her son Joseph Salah Mathew
Amy Salah Lynn
You could also use the name Sailor
Anthony Sailor
Christina Sailor

Sally is a pretty, but somewhat old-fashioned name. I also like Rosalee, and Rosalind. Salah Would make a lovely middle name for a daughter. I also like Salome as either a first or middle name.
Boy names are harder but I know a guy named Sallah so I think its a nice name.
A couple of suggestions : Salton, Saldon, Salem, Salkin

Sal is in many circumstances short for "Salvadore." It sounds weird and wonderful as a woman's call. If i grow to be named Sally, i does no longer in basic terms like the nickname Sal. I DO think of it extremely is a lovable call, in basic terms no longer for a woman.

Girls: Salacia, Saleema, Salena, Sally, Salma, Saloma
Boy: Salamon, Salih, Salton, Salvador, Salvator
These are the names I could find starting w/"Sal". I hope that it helps you. You could always use it as a middle name & something else as a first name.

I think giving your son or daughter the middle name Salah (for your father) is sweet & appropriate.
It's part of their family's heritage.
Names nowadays are so varied....I do not think there would be any negative connotations.

Yosalvie, Salvanye, Salvarath, El Salina, Salina, Sallie, Salahnie, Ahnsaul, Saul, Shal, Salne, and Salette are the best I can think of.
I love your intentions to name after a loved one. Good luck.

Gotta love Sally. Also Salome for a girl. Another way to honor your father would be to give your son his last name (your maiden name) as a first name, if that works.
