I am trying to decide between three guitars. One is the Fender Standard Strat. The other two are the squier standard strat and the squier Affinity strat. The price is important. The fender is $400. The affinity strat is $150 and the Standard strat is $200. Is there a huge difference between the Fender and the squier tone and build-wise? I would like to get the Fender, but i might not have enough money, that's why i listed squiers too.

I bought my son the Fender Standard Strat. It is made in Mexico, but it is a real Fender, not the Squier knockoff. I am glad I did. If money is an issue get the Squier and save up for something better later on. The Squier is not a bad deal or guitar if you are starting out. Of course the Fender Standard can be improved on as well.

I have the squier standard strat and it's as nice a guitar as 200 bucks will get ya, if ya got the 400 tho' go for the fender.

I have a squire strat and it sounds okay. It has the same body as a fender strat because squire is made by Fender. The Squire is like a cheaper knock off of the original strat.

If you want a real guitar Grab a GIBSON Les Paul. then see what sounds better.

if you can swing a standard strat that's what I would do
however try to steer clear of any made in Mexico no matter
which you choose(tone/sound issues).many people I know are opting for this
it is made in Japan but an HSS model kicks A
and is a real Fender product..just different headstock shape
otherwise it looks and sounds like a Strat
consider it
