just tell her. but say it kindly. i had to do that too. just say something like this. " listen i have something to tell you. now dont take this the wrong way or dont take it personal but it is something that not only i think. i would of said it earlier but i couldnt realize how to say it. well now i am ready. um u know you have a lot of talents and im sorry but singing isnt one of them. but hey guess what. there are so many people out there that are WAY worse. and i probably am one of them. dont take this the wrong way but i just dont want to hurt you." like it? email me back. my REAL address is 1-trouble@myway.com

some times in life people are better of finding out the negative things about them from strangers than people they know-i understand that you really don't want her to embarrass herself -but she may think that you are jelous of her especially if she is as tone deaf as you make her sound-but if you are a great friend than go ahead and break it to her gently -one thing you could do is recard each other just goofinfg around and have her sing something then play it back and maybe she may actually relize how off she is-just an idea-

Avoid you telling her that, just tell her to go to the next American Idol, If she is that bad Simon will make her not want to sing again.

its sweet that you care so much and dont want to hurt her feelings but her feelings would be hurt way more if simon cowell throws a nasty comment!
you are her true friend...she may get hurt or think ur jealous etc etc but its your duty as her friend to tell her the truth in the nicest way possible...but make sure she gets your point...then if she decides to go ahead and audition its up to her...at least after that she will come back to you and apologise if she was too over reactive with you!
thing is if she is just a 'sort of friend' it may be harder than if she is your best friend cos egos and barriers often come in the way...perhaps you should get someone closer to her break the bad news??

Pull her to a corner and tell her. If she won't listen, beat it into her. Just playin. If she's your friend you gotta tell her the truth no matter how much it's gonna hurt, or how deaf she wantsta be, don't be a coward. If she won't listen, then sweetie, you done ur best. Let her learn the hard way. Rotten eggs and banana peels never did no one harm.

you should say that we should practice and if that doesn't work let her know that she sings bad because when she really sings in front of millions she going to embarrass her self rather tell her now then later hope that works!

record her singing and send it too her in an anonymous letter, I'm sure listening to herself sing will snap her out of it, that's how my parents got me to stop!

Why do you feel that it is your place to tell her she cannot sing? Leave her alone. She'll find out. And if she embarrasses herself...so be it.
