Probably not- if someone actually broke into the place you're leasing, and you now have evidence that the security provided by the landlord is insufficient, you might be able to use that to get out of the lease, but only after you request better security and don't get it. Good luck!

Being robbed is generally not considered a sufficient reason to allow early termination of a lease contract. If the robbery occurred due to the landlord not providing security as indicated in the written lease, you may have a valid reason. However, a robbery due to no fault of the landlord is not a reason to terminate a lease early without penalty.

My understanding, from years of dedicated viewing of "The People's Court" is that if the landlord did something to contribute to the problem (ie: open fire doors), then yes, you can and should move. Best is to contact your state landlord/tenant agency to get rules specific to your state. Landlord typically must show "reasonable care".

You have to talk to your landlord. If he says no, then you can't. If he says yes, then you can.
