Many camping and trailer supply companies sell kits that you hardwire the pigtails into your rear light systems, directions included.

To expand on what JBC said look under the rear of the truck and find where the wires for the tailights meet there should be a plug there. the T adaptor for trailers goes there. If you brought it used check it see if it is already there. Mine was

If truck uses the brake light for a signal then it's a straight forward wiring, 4 wire hook-up. GREEN=Right Turn/Stop
YELLOW=Left Turn/Stop
BROWN=Tail Lights/License Plate
WHITE=GROUND
If you have separate signal lights on their own then you'll have to get a converter so that you can adapt it to 4 pin plug that your trailer would have, they have them specifically for vehicle types and you just plug into your existing harness with no cutting in.

Go to NAPA or Auto Zone (or any other parts store)and get a plug in pigtail that simply plugs into your wiring harness under the rear of the truck. Make sure you do a proper ground!
