I am not argueing and debating that Token Ring should be better.

What I am really looking for is a smart way to understand why this possible job position want me to converts all network from Token Ring to ethernet.

What is the difference in your words?

Knowing more about computer technician but not enough in networking. I felt that this is something I can learn for today if I were to do this job that is offering to me.

In Token Ring, only one host can transmit at a time. This prevents collisions, but the overall transmission rate under light use is slower than Ethernet.

With Ethernet, any host can transmit at any time, and if collisions occur, the transmissions are just repeated a random amount of milliseconds later. Since collisions aren't all that common, you really don't notice much degradation in performance, unless the network capacity is all being used (like several large file transfers taking place simultaneously). In such a situation, token ring may be faster.

Anyway, Ethernet is much more common these days, and the hardware and cabling and maintenance is well understood and easily available, and less expensive than Token Ring.

Ethernet has anybody on the LAN receiving all documents suddenly. On token ring, there's a token it rather is handed from host to host. The hosts are configured in a hoop so this token is continually handed from host to host. in the previous sending packets, greater than some could desire to anticipate the token to return by skill of. while Ethernet replaced into basically accomplishing speeds of ten or so Megabits according to 2d, token ring replaced into able to passing documents at variety of 32 Megabits. it rather is using the fact each and every host could desire to the two get carry of documents from the previous host interior the hoop and transmit it back on the comparable time.

In a token ring star/bus network data from workstation to workstation takes too long. Also if one workstation goes down then the entire token ring network goes down as well.

Token rings: too many collisions and too slow.
