I am shaking my head and trying not to laugh. Some of these questions are beyond belief and the answers are about the same. However, my first wife made me drive to the San Diego Zoo and bother Dr. Parnell ( curator of mammals back in the '60's ) and ask him how a porcupine mated.. and the answer was " very carefully".
Yes Marsha, snakes do have tails.

Snakes do have tails. Anything that is past the vent(slit like opening that they poop, pee and mate through)is considerred the tail. I don't think it's a stupid question at all since they look like a detached tail of some other animal. Were a snake a lizard it would have back legs at just about the point where the vent is and anything beyond that is tail so it makes sense that anything past the vent on a snake is also tail. Hope this makes sense.

Yes, snakes do have tails. Their whole body is not considered a tail, so they are not a tail with two eyes as someone else said. The length of the tail is one way to tell if the snake is male or female.

Yes, since their body continues past their vent, that would be considered a tail. You could call their whole body a tail, but if you were to be technical the only part that is a tail would be the last 5 or 6 inches after the vent (anus).

If you want further clarification I got webster's definition of Tail refrenced :D

according to askjeeves.com the answer is most definetly yes. Also a rattlesnakes venom is not in it's tail it is located in glands in the roof of it's mouth. These glands then release the venom through special openings in the fangs of the snakes.

They do. And the best way to locate where the tail start is to find their "vent," or the place where they goto the bathroom from. After that, it's all tail.

Yes because the rattlesnakes have poison in their tails which can make you die if you do not get medical help right away. Their poison is in the back of their vicious tails, so yes, they do have tails

I don't think you can consider it a tail since it is just a continuation of their body. I mean the part after the poop chute. But then again that part ( after the chute) doesn't contain vital organs. Hmmm
