Do mullatoes tend to look more black or more white???

black, but some look hispanic also (funny huh)

Well, since there's still a leftover sense of the old one-drop rule for determining race, I'd say most people would think a person with one black parent and one white parent 'looks black'. Of course lots of people thought Derek Jeter is Hispanic, so YMMV.
'Mulatto' is a bit gauche these days, by the by.
