A lot of programs can partition a harddrive. I believe that Partition Magic 8 can, but it only can partition a part of a harddrive that has not been formatted yet. Since your tablet pc already has its whole hardrive formatted you cannot partition any part of it without starting over.

By starting over I mean, wiping the harddrive clean, deleting the current partition and then starting over. During the windows xp/vista installation process it allows you to delete current partitions and create new ones.

Your best bet would be to get an external harddrive or dvd burner. Most of the external harddrives and dvd burners come with some sort of back up programs that allow you to backup harddrive data. The plus side of having something external is if you loose the harddrive, or if it just completely dies you have a copy of your files externally.

Software doesn't have an "s" on the end.

Use a USB drive and copy your data over. Its hardly a backup if you simply copy the data to a partition on the same disk.
