Some doctors will give you a shot that will dry you up but really it depends on what part of the coutry you are in, depnding on what is the practice at the time. I will tell you this, most doctors will not, because they believe that if they do not that you will breastfeed some, and some is better than none. The best advice that I can give you is this: If you are NOT going to breastfeed, and your doctor will NOT give you anything, then when your milk comes in (and it will) dont nurse at all!!!! Take warm showers to ease breast pain, and if you get engorged (swollen to the point it hurts) at all, get in the shower and manually express just enough to ease the pain. After a couple of weeks you wont hardly produce anything at all, and it wont be uncomfortable anymore.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT BIND YOUR BREASTS!!!!!!!!
It is the worst thing that you can do!! Binding can cause mastisis and that is one of the most painful horrible things in the entire world. It is a clogged milk duct that is infected. If you notice a large red swollen area that is hot to the touch and VERY painful, please see your doctor right away.

I wonder why you don't want to breastfeed? It's not breastfeeding that ruins your breasts--it's pregnancy! I breastfed my babies while my sister formula-fed, and I had it so much easier! Sure, I had a tougher start, but for months and months, I had less work and less worry! I also have a healthier baby. Whatever you choose, best wishes.

Nope......they do not do that anymore.
Some tips for you:
Get a really tight sports bra and wear it all the time
Pin a ace bandage to one side, and wrap it tightly around your breasts. You can use the ace bandage to hold ice packs over the sports bra.
When you shower, keep the warm water off your breasts.

There will be some pressure and it does hurt, but it does not last for more than a few days.

No the shot was taken off the market because it was dangerous. If you are not breastfeeding they will bind you up tightly which will help a little.

But there is 101 reasons to breastfeed ...

They usually give you a pill to dry you up. Although not every woman's milk comes in. It's totally fine to bottle feed. I did my oldest. My younger two I breastfed for 4 months. It's not a big deal if you don't want to breastfeed.

i really don't think so because i know plenty of women who did not breatfeed and they didn't have any shot to keep them from producing milk. when you get home buy some cabbage make sure its chilled good and take the outer leaves ond put them inside your bra around your breasts that will dry the milk up or you could wear a sports bra after delivering ( make sure its good and tight).

Of course, yes, your doctor will supply medication in some form or other to help you dry up. I'm not sure what the cost (if any).
I'm sure you don't want to hear this, but please consider breastfeeding for at least a week, your body produces nutrients for the baby that are EXTREMELY important to baby's health.

They used to. But I'm not so sure anymore. I think now they just let them dry naturally. Good luck.
