In most states it's a simple as signing up for a real estate course. You can even do it online. The fee in Washington and California range from $400-600. Then you need to pass a state exam (usually the school makes it very easy to continue the process).
Once you complete the required class (usually 60 clock hours) and pass the state exam. You get a license and then need to sign up with a Real Estate Broker. There are lots around. Go to a local office and ask them about the process and see if they will help you. Keller Williams Realty helped me a lot in the beginning and I am still with them (and doing well I might add).
check out www.kw.com and search for a local office. You can just walk in and tell them you are looking into becoming a real estate agent.
Other major brokers are:
Remax
Century 21
Prudential
Coldwell Banker
and many more smaller ones.

This is a very basic question that does not require very much.
In order to become a real estate agent in most states is to pass the state real estate exam.
There are some classes offered in each and every state that for $90.00 more or less they will give you a crash course after which you will be given the state exam.
If you pass the state exam now you are a real estate agent.
If is up to you now to find a broker that you feel comfortable working with. Some feel better working for larger firms, some don't want to get lost in a large firm and prefer a smaller more intimate office setting.
I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck.

You're going to have to get your real estate agent's license. Depending on how bright you are, you might be able to just take a quick study course and then pass the test. From there, you need to work with a broker. Depending on where you live, it might not be worth the trouble- a lot of real estate professionals are falling on rough times with the declining housing market...

To get liscensed, you only need to pass your state classes and exams. But to actually get started, you need to find a broker. Depending on your state you may be able to work while you study for the real estate exam.
Most people in real estate fail in thier first two years though. The reason is that they pick a broker that does not help them, and they go broke before they start to succeed. Find someone who will train you, and will not charge you lots of money while you are in training. It will make a ton of difference. If you want help finding someone shoot me an e-mail.

I would start by selecting a few nation real estate firms that have a local office. See what type of training programs they might offer and then attend them. In most states you have to " hang " your license with a brokerage agency and they would be the ones to do it.

In my home state the real estate companies train their employees themselves, but there are also two year degree studies available at the local junior college.
