I know of two changes WW2 made women's work very important, as men went to fight. Many women for the first time in their lives earned money, huge change this brought in its wake the feminist movement of the 1950's. Second, in order for women to work day care centers were opened near the factories and elsewhere, this was a huge change that did not last after 1945 but it took only awhile longer and day care centers were re-opened.
