I know that this is briefly mentioned in Homer's Iliad, but where else is it mentioned??

The written basis is the Illiad... the myth was probably passed on in a oral tradition. If it was written down before then it has been lost. A lot of the Greek myths were actually preserved by the Romans, who wrote the stories in Greek (or written by Greeks during the Roman Empire control of Greece).

Robert Graves, the British author, translated tons of ancient Greek myths. If you are wanting a text of the myth outside of the Illiad then look for him... his books should still be in print. He is a major British novelist in this century.

I'm not sure, but it might be mentioned in a trilogy of plays by Aeschylus, who wrote about everything leading up to and after the Trojan war. I do know the story of Paris judging Aphrodite the most beautiful and being given Helen of Troy as a prize.

"The Judgment of Paris" is a painting by Peter Paul Reubens, too.
