The anonymity of the Internet allows anyone to be a jerk without consequences. Most of them aren't really angry, just stupid or misguided.

I thought the same as I got here. I joined becuase the debates seemed interesting and the hatred that flowed from many of the participants really attract me. I try to be nice and not get into stupid partisan debates but as you spend more time you get sucked into this room of hatred and stupidity. I was like you when I first joined, I have an interest in politics but most people just insult and post dumb questions. You can't do anything about it. I think they wanted to be political pundits but since they can't, this is the next best thing.

From what I've seen, some are funny, some are mean, some are terrible, some are just plain dumb, some are serious, and others don't fit into any category. There is a mix of all kinds. But, you have to admit, it's fascinating. Right? And politics? You will get all kinds of answers.

Oh man, if you don't want mean, you're in the wrong place!!! They're haters and go straight for the juggler. If you mention your political affiliation they're on you like stink on, well, you know. It's sympotatic of what's wrong with politics in the US in general. There isn't any middle ground anymore, you're either "for us, or against us".
You need to adopt my sentiment - If I had any feelings, they'd be hurt!!
If you're thin skinned you might look for another site. Good luck

Yes, people are always that mean. You'll get one or two rational answers, then nominees for the Darwin awards come in and report you for giving your own answer, especially if it's partisan.

Because so many people make sweeping generalizations about one group or another. I try to just answer questions honestly unless it is a poster who asks something really offensive or a poster who constantly spews hateful things (I could name a couple now). Don't let anybody get you too uptight, you are always gonna have a few smart***es in the bunch. :)

Actually people are being pretty nice today, it gets much worse. People tend to get mean when you put conservatives and liberals in the same room as they have differing opinions, and feel very strongly about their beliefs. Besides take a look at liberalism in general, have you ever met a meaner group of people, they even hate their own if they disagree on 1 issue, look what they did to Lieberman. Look at all the mean hateful things the liberal presidential candidates say about each other, you don't see conservatives doing that very often. Look at their hatred for Bush, he is wrong no matter what he does, even when he gives in and finally does something they have been asking him to do they change their mind and tell people how wrong he is when they were asking him to do that very thing just before he did it.

A lot of people here know the truth about how 911 was an inside job by the U.S. government. That Bush and Cheney are the real terrorist trying to establish a NWO. Unfortunately the sheeple people who are blind...don't agree with this...so they become angry at the truth....and take out their frustration on other Yahoo users.

: ) Well, this section is heavily divided into two distinct groups who naturally hate eachother: Democrats and Republicans. Though, truth be told, not all of this is actually hate. More like dissagreements. I'm sure if you remember to keep a smile on your face, you'll be fine. Just remember, there are idiots on both sides of this battlfield. The hating people tend to be the idiots.

Many people come here to vent their party's propaganda. Relatively few actually care to rationally discuss issues. I don't visit the politics section much anymore for exactly that reason. I honestly don't believe many of the posters in this area even have actual opinions.

It can be fun, if you know what your convictions are and are able to respond with an informative answer.
