With respect, its good that u said homeless and not vagrant as they say where i live, although they arent well off its still courtesy to be kind, dont yell remarks or treat with scorn since u dont know what their situation was like before they ended up there. Also if they ask you for a sandwich or a juice or anyting, please take the time out to lend a hand and not just say "I'm broke or busy" when it wont hurt u to spend a dollar or two.

With care. I have brought home many homeless people and some have been fine, some have just nicked things and left, some have stayed friends, some have found jobs and places to live etc. I thank God every day that I have a home. Only bad experience recently was in London was after dark, a homeless person ran up to me, whipped off my glasses and demanded money for their return (which I gave). £10. I treat homeless people with respect and care because I have a roof over my head and I do not know what has made a person homeless. How terrible to think that a person has no home. I am not ignorant of the ways in which a person becomes homeless, but I still think that all people need a shelter, a roof, a warm place, and that nobody should sleep on the street. What are we coming to? If I had a big enough place, I would take in all homeless people, all battered women, all ill-treated babies and children, all young people with their range of difficulties, all ill-treated animals, everyone, everything. I work during the day as a support worker for elderly people with Alzheimers, and I would take them in too. I just want one big place somewhere to take them all to.

What many people do not understand is that the majority of the population in the United States is one paycheck away from it. With no savings, and paying bills week to week, it becomes a matter of survival to have that check each week. One paycheck missed and the rent doesn't get paid, or the electric is turned off. Before they say that they treat homeless as 'a baby treats a diaper' or whatever, they need to look at not just their finances, but that of their parents, and other family members. Many elderly are at the point of paying for their meds or paying for their food. That point is LESS than a step from homelessness. Hike the rent and where are they?

There are disturbing number of homeless people in our country alone, the numbers are staggering. I can not begin to imagine what it might feel like to be homeless. The very thought is frightening.
I see how they are treated, as they try to survive each day on the streets. So I treat them, the way I would want to be treated in that situation.
And I say "IF" I were, because the truth of the matter is...It could be you someday. Or some one you know. Somr people don't have the resources some of us may be so fortunate to have.
from the person suffering from mental illness to the family that just lost their job, couldnt pay the rent anymore. I'm sure these people would want to be treated with some degree of respect and compassion. And as long as they allowed me to treat them that way, I would certainly treat them in such a fashion.
Just my thoughts,
Kevin

Remember.. A lot of homeless people are mentally ill. Be very wise when you come into contact with them. I have been in the midst of the lions den and these people are like lions.. They can be nice as heck and kind, but they can turn on a dime and lash out at you with a vengeance. I’m not talking at a slap to the face… I’m talking a knife to the throat.
I treat all people with respect unless they return my respect with contempt.
I believe that we are our brothers’ keepers. We should try and help them as much as they wish to be helped. But helping someone that is in a homeless situation means giving them part of their dignity back. Sometimes it’s in the form of mental help. Sometimes physical help by getting them off drugs. Sometimes it is just by giving them a few bucks to get a meal until they find their next job.

some homeless people have worked hard for most of their lives either in businesses that have failed or in the army. Others are lazy bums (the majority) epically the ones who have the cheek to ask for money when they should get a job
they shouldn't be treated at all,

Depends how they treat me. Just because someone is homeless doesnt make them a nice or good person. A crack/meth head drug addict can be a homeless person and can come up and rob you if you turn your back on them.
If they are a nice person, i treat them with respect. If they are a drug addict or scum i tell them to back off.

like a normal person. Its kinda stereotypical when you say home-less, i prefer to say the un-lucky lot. I'd treat them normal cuz well they are humans too. Like I have many friends who are on welfare and they are still really nice people, they are just the un fortunate ones thats all
