Hi Cat. NAC is the precursor to glutathione (GSH). GSH is the most important antioxidant in the body. It is also critical for detoxification of many chemicals, toxins, and normal metabolic byproducts. It also plays important roles in amino acid transport into cells and other vital functions such as maintaining cellular redox status. It does NOT increase methylation.

It may not be rational to think of this nutrient as a 'drug' that 'treats symptoms'. Rather, think of it as a vital nutrient that helps maintain healthy functioning of many critical biochemical processes.

Best wishes and good luck.

No, I have not taken it myself, but it should help your body increase levels of glutathione, which is the body's natural master antioxidant. Glutathione is so important that your body won't make a new cell unless there is sufficient glutathione present to protect that new cell! Personally, I just take a whole food supplement to do that.

Yeah..... depends what you want to take it for though.

I take about 2g a day to increase methylation rate. You can buy a massive tub cheapy from bulknutrition.com (i have nothing to do with them).

Apparantly very decent/cheap anti-oxidant but more than 2g a day it becomes a pro-oxidant.

(edit: yeah sorry got confused re methylation, I'm taking it as an anti-oxidant)
