Oh YESSSS!!! You are so right!!! I feel the same way. She has done nothing to help children here. BUT, she goes to Africa and builds an all girls school and pays for everything from supplies to uniforms to every little thing. What about all the children here?!?!?!

I'm also tired of all those celebrities that go to other countries and adopt children. What about all the children here in the United States?? They are as helpless as the others if not more because all these charities send money over seas to them, they don't keep them here and help 'our' children. It drives me nuts. I have stopped following what they are doing and change the channel when the news talks about it. If I could help our children, I would, but I can't even help myself yet.

No one who actualy lives in africa and was born there can do so much for them. Just be glad someone is doing something good for them. If you were born into a poor African family, would you refuse her help just because she was not a true native? Would you still be so "sick" of her? I think not.

Give some thought to it! :)

And: To people who think she should help children here:

You have to realize that children here have much more opportunities, and no matter how bad their life might seem, most of the time it's even worse for the children in africa. I'm not saying that children here have it all good, but Africa is not as industrialized as we are here, and does not have as good an economy. Just be happy that someone's doing something (anything!) to help someone in this world. I think it's a wonderfull thing she's doing.

You should be happy that someone is getting help. Why complain because someone is giving charity. If you want charity in your local community then do some yourself. At least Oprah is giving charity, so many celebs. could do a lot more than they do right now.

Small reality check...It's HER money and she can do as she pleases with it.

Also, she's been giving away MILLIONS of dollars in North America for years.

I think 40 million for one school complex in one country is a waste given that a fraction of that could have built a perfectly fabulous school. And, the rest could have build 10 schools in africa, not one.
