That is really not a good idea to do you could be asking for trouble.

Stop at library look up your vehicle engine codes and see if you can find a Eletrical & Electronic Skamatic. If your not able to stop at you Chevy Dealler see how you can get a print out.

Then ask what you can and cannot do. If your going to be driving this vehicle on the streets I would ask what could be bad in a duration.

If your strictly turning this into a HOT Rod for the Drag Strip go for it.

If this if for a Show vehicle and will hardly drive it then leave it alon you never know what kind of offer you may get.

Removing these chip may or may not be possible. If you have a Friend who is a everyday Technition for this matter you probably can BY-Pass the chips.

Do some extensive research.

The NHRA Website has a bunch of links.
There are trichs & tips where you can Pack some pure muscle into this motor.

You might be able to By-Pass the Revlimiter also if you have that when the car is in Neutral. I have a 2001 Z24 they do that with the 4 banger so that is pretty much a given for those.

Take a serious moment what you realy want to do to this motor. I would have been nice if you mentioned the kind of vehicle you have to or if this is a motor you have sitting around with the OBC.

There's no chip that can be removed in 1996-up chevys, you have to have the ECM unit completely reprogrammed by a professional. Alternatively, look up the hypertech power programmer. It is a handheld unit that hooks up to the data port on the truck and you can choose the tune that goes in your truck. It can reprogram fuel ratios & other things to increase the power, and remove the governor.

The governor has nothing to do with performance unless you're over 5500 rpm at he dragstrip. I'd go with a Hypertech unit myself.

you cannot remove the governor but you can buy a program from superchip that overwrite the old program.
