I've heard a lot of talk about this year because of the Mayan calender. Is there any legitimate theory or science to it, or is it just the media giving the public the wrong idea and individuals trying to scare us?

No need to fear or even worry or wonder about it. It's just the paranoid delusions of liberals infected by the insidious disease called the Chicken Little Syndrome. Only a paranoid delusional mind could think of something so ridiculous and non-existent to be afraid of. Worry about "global warming" is a prime example of the syndrome.

the Mayans has made a lot of accurate predictions, like the two world wars and others, they were also a very mysterious bunch, so yes we have to fear a lot for 2012, this will be a year for a big change, and not a good one, within 3 years we will see the first nuclear war, but it will not be a war that will end live on earth it will be a local conflict maybe in Pakistan, this will be the time when the countries will take sides, and a number of disputes will be the beginning of a time of starvation and internal wars then in 2012 the world is going to sufer a severe weather change (not like the one in the day after tomorrow) that will kill houndreds of millions with the hardest summer and winter ever, thats when all begins to get bad, because we start to practice the survival of the fittest, and this will end the man kind as we know it, we will be target of starving dogs, cats and other animals. and the last legitimate goverment standing will fall in 2021, it's going to be a huge number of individual issues that eventually will end with us, not just one but a chain that has started to flow... so yes, be afraid, very afraid

The mayans discovered that by having 60 seconds in a minute and 60 minutes in an hour that night and day could be exactly the same length. 24 hours was also a very special number to them. 12 is half of 24, who knows maybe the sun god will erupt and we will all explode?

It's a lot of drama over something people don't understand. There is nothing to fear. Any changes will be on an energetic level and in fact have already begun.
The Mayan Long Count calendar doesn't end--calendars and time don't end.

Even if there may be something happening, I don't think you or anyone should be afraid. Just find out what you may need to be safe.

There might be some scientific evidence for concern. Over the last couple of years there has been continued global warming causing more severe hurricanes as well as stronger earthquakes and tsunamis. Earth's magnetic north pole has also been found to be migrating to the South Atlantic. As a result, the Earths magnetic field is weakening. By themselves, these things prove nothing, but if you compare them with Mayan prophecy, there may be cause for at least some serious reflection. Here is a short summary of the Mayan people and their prophecy for the time.

The Mayan Indians regard their beliefs as both a science and a religion. Their discoveries are not done in a lab but rather by tapping into the cosmos via the mind. Through the extensive use of meditation, they are able to discover and track planetary movements as well as space anomalies such as black holes. They used this information to construct a calendar so accurate that no present day calendar can rival its accuracy. They also use this information to predict future events.

According to some Mayans, this date marks the end of the long count of their calendar; Set to end on a winter solstice (12-21-12). On this date, our Solar system will be center aligned , in the Milky Way, ninety degrees relative to the black hole, at its center. Our sun will be centered in a position called "The Tree of Life", as it does every 25,800 years. We will have exited the forth dimension and entered the fifth dimension. This date also marks the end of the Mayan "Great Cycle" of the long count, which is equivalent to 5125 years. We exit the age of Pisces and enter the age of Aquarius.

In this position, unusually violent sun spot activity will cause a pole shift. Earthquakes, tsunamis, and floods will run ramped. Significant loss of life will occur. Earths magnetic field will temporarily collapse. Humans will be exposed to a cosmic energy that will facilitate enlightenment. In this state of higher consciousness, we will recognize that all matter, plant, animal, mineral are bound as one. This realization will mark the end of wars for a time. People will be able to connect to the essence of god (vibrating energy) like only the most enlightened can.

The date marks a goal to be reached. Evil forces will make every effort to keep humanity from reaching the date. These evil forces are those entrenched in the third dimension, in the Material world. They have no desire to leave this age and wish to continue exploiting and endangering all life for material gain.

Wars just prior to this date could be most devastating, with a loss of as much as 2/3 of our population anticipated. The resulting man made environmental damage could make life inhospitable for those who survive.

Humans have freewill, Man's future is not set yet, nor predictable:
STRIVE FOR PEACE

Media hype.
It will be several hundred years before we really have to worry,at least the people that are around.

2012 isn't necessarily supposed to be the end of the world, but a time of "great change". No scientific proof. We won't know til it happens.
