I bought a used car with 2,000 miles from the dealer (same dealer where the car was sold new). They told me it had never been repainted and now I am finding out that they repainted a large portion of the front end. Now the paint is chipping off and I only have 12,000 miles on the car. What can I do, beyond ask them to cover under warranty?

First thing that comes to mind is why would they say it had never been painted unless you ask them if it had been. And why would you ask unless something tipped you off, the car only had 2000 miles on it.
Ask to see any repair history for the car and find out who the previous owner was.

Go back to the dealer and tell him that you will give him a chance to make up the difference. Tell him to return a portion of the money or you will take him to court for libel. Sue him for the cost of getting the car repainted ( make sure you have several estimates). Also tell everybody you know about his reputation. But you have to remember '' caviot emptor'' (buyer beware)

if you have a contract in which it is stated that the car has never been repaired, than you gotta go to court!!!
if don't have a contract, be aware that in the future, a signed document is the best friend that you can have in sittuations such as this one...

if the paint is chipping off, than for sure they did an awful work with it, and they were in a hurry to get the job done...

It should be under warranty, I would think. It sounds like it was wrecked when it was almost new. You may contact a lawyer or the BBB and file a complaint. Unless you have it in writing, it's all just hearsay evidence and not of much use in court. Kind of like let the buyer beware.

make sure it didnt have a salvage title it it did there is not much you can do if not the chipping paint is a good sign of salvage and they falsified a govt document which means you have a good case plus the govt will be after their butts
