connect the modem to the LAN port, connect computers, printer, etc to the remaining ports.
Turn the power off on the modem, router and any computers/printers connected to the router. Wait about 30 seconds then turn the modem and router back on, wait about 30 seconds and turn on your computers. That should be sufficient to get you going.

Most routers have a port labeled WAN or INTERNET. This is usually the first or last port and might be noticeably separate from the others. You cable/DSL modem gets plugged in to that port. You computer will get plugged in to any of the other ports.

Coaxial cable/phone cable goes to modem.
Cat 5 goes from modem to router.
Cat 5 also goes from router to computer Ethernet port.

ok the one from the modem goes to the internet or uplink port on the router then one goes from port 1 on the router to a pc ect if you have a usb cable put it away to use on a printer or something

if u have wireless router then there r no wires to be attached to ur computer...all u need to do is...connect ur modem to the phone jack or cable...then connect ur modem to the wirelss router....
that's it...open up ur computer..make sure wireless connection is enabled and then choose the wireless connection of urs.
ps: the name and key will be there somewhere on ur router..normally they print this info at the bottom
