I made the same transformation after running track for 8 years, start by wearing your jeans low rise and a little more fitted than boy cut jeans. Also buy some nice flats (dont just jump into wearing heels every day) and start wearing heels or pumps when you wear skirts etc.
Pair your fitted jeans with fitted teees, baby tees, cami's, etc. Try buying some halter tops and a nice blazer to pair with things also.
When you are comfortable in heels get a couple skirts, start knee length. Also, go to your local department store to learn how to apply makeu and also get amakeover so you can learn which colors work best for you. And try getting a manicure every couple of weeks, you could even do a french tip, which isnt overly girly (like hot pink) and it goes with anything.
Lastly, try getting some classic accessories to add to your outfits, like hoop earrings, silver bracelets, rings, etc.
Also, watch the way you carry yourself, ex. dont sit with your legs open, dont slouch when you sit, etc.
And look for a few nice purses and bags to match with your outfits..
Good luck!
Oh, and if you wear your hair in a ponytail everyday you need to stop that, lol. Try somemc ute ctyles, or if you arent sure just go to a local hairdresser and get a blow dry and style.

Well to start, I would get some flip-flops (it's starting to heat up outside) and we can work on the heels a little later. Get a color that you can wear with anything. It's pretty simple to start up a whole new wardrobe because that's what I had to do after hurricae katrina. If you go to the mall and buy 2 or 3 cute shirts and 1 or 2 cute pairs of jeans or even a denim skirt this can start you on your way. You should also find some feminine female friends if you don't have any already because they will help a lot.
I would suggest Old Navy or that type of store because they always have "baby-t's" and those shirts really cheap but they are a better quality store. If you have short hair, get it cut and maybe colored in a cute style that fits your face. If it's long, make sure to trim the ends and maybe try some curls or half up---something different from your regular routine.
With undies, go shopping at Vickie's (Victoria's Secret) and start with bright, feminine colors and maybe get some new bras that make you feel like a complete woman.
Now above I mentioned flip-flops. Make sure you get a pedicure first. I personally prefer the french tip on my hands and toes. You might even want a full set on your hands. You never know until you try. With make-up, different females like different things. Start with simple lip gloss and work you way up.
Don't forget the jewlery. I think nice diamond stud earrings would be nice or big hoop earrings. Practice a new walk in front of the mirror and only keep the tennis shoes on the side for working out. Hope this was of help to you!

I've got basically the same problem, and I can't say I've totally solved it yet. Women's clothing is often more decorative and less practical than men's. In my line of work (I'm helping my mom remodel our house), that's a liability.
I've been trying to change the color, more than the style, of my clothes. For example, I usually wear button-front men's shirts (hand-me-downs from my dad), so I got a pink gingham shirt--a men's shirt from Land's End, I kid you not--and everybody says how nice and feminine it looks.
Jewelry and snazzy accessories will always make you look more feminine. You could get a nice necklace or bracelet, or a belt if you've got the figure for it, and wear it every day to spruce up your appearance a little.
Another thing you could do, if you have the time, is get a new hairstyle. Once you find a fairly easy-care style that looks nice and feminine, and works with your face and hair, stay with it. It doesn't have to be too frilly--my mom says I look more feminine with my current haircut, based on the one Harrison Ford had in Star Wars, than I did with my ponytail. (Of course, my mom's prejudiced.)
Take it one small step at a time, keep smiling, and remember: the guys who already know you aren't going to notice these small changes, but the new ones you meet will see a gradually more feminine girl.

You can start by changing your hairstyle and cleaning out your closet. If your hair is short, grow it longer and get side bangs or other cute hair cuts (if you don't know of any, you can look in the books that they have at the salon.) Then go to a store like Aeropostale, Hollister, JC Penny, etc. They have tons of clothes and accesories that are in style. If you're looking for cheaper prices, you can go to the junior's section in Wal-Mart or other department stores.
If you still want to be in sports, go ahead. Almost all of the girls I know are, and we all love getting dirty. It's all part of the fun!
I can't really think of anything else. If you're feeling bold, you could try wearing some light make-up, like eyeshadow, blush, lipgloss, etc. Good luck!

hey i did that same exact thing. i would always wear athletic shorts and a wicked baggy shirt. in about 8th grade, i started getting jeans, tighter shirts, jean shorts, and things like that. i don't think that there is a gradual way to do it. go on a shopping spree with one of your good friends. one that WONT make fun of you tyring to change. just gradually start wearing those nicer clothes. i wore sweatshirts all the time with jeans, then summer came so i took them off. it was kind of awkward with what other people would say to me but now it's deffinately worth it! i hope everything works out and these things take TIME!!!
GOOD LUCK!!!

Start with a small shopping trip to get jeans that are tight and fit your figure and some shirts that look girly(not like frilly pink stuff but something that can only be worn by a woman).

similar to me. all threw my younger years of life i wore clothes like guys, or the comfy stuff that could pass for that but nothing girlie or at popular stores, it wasnt until 9thgrade when i started shoping at stores other girls my age shop at. and so i shop at pac sun and american eagle and i will admit i stil like to wear those big comfy shirts or those baggy swetshirts and swets but i try to find clothes that people wear or brands, but clothes i feel i look well in or feel good in while still being in good style. i still occasionally wear sweats and stuff like that, but do gradual stuff. go buy 3 or 4 new shirts girls wear, but ones you feel good in and like, wear them, get feed back, if you like whats up with your new look, continue, its not like you can never go back. dress how you feel and want. change can be good, it was for me! good luck!
