When the first hominid " discovered " in an experimental manner that fire kept one warm and cooked his food ( pre-digestion ) he was doing science. Science goes back further than that, but work it forward and you will find many more than ten reasons to be thankful foe science. Science is a method for arriving at the truth or it's approximations. Technology, sciences sexy sister, is for putting that knowledge into action. Science is a method, not an institution.
