Hitting is hitting....

maybe those that get shoved, or hit should not be considered as having been assaulted,
Not being judgemental, this is just a round and round situation, and mistakes should not be done on our children,
I was brought up in a very abusive home, my parents should have been charged, blood was drawn, and I have permanent reminders to see every day.
I have children, I chose to descipline them in ways that were not physical.

Spanking is not hitting. PERIOD. And if we all stopped correcting our children the world would be over within 20 years.

Reality each year it gets more and more dangerous, and each of those years more and more rights were taken away from the parents.

Depends how hard the spanking is. a couple slaps on the bottom enough to show the child who is boss won't hurt the child. There is a difference between a few slaps on the bottom and abuse such as spanking so hard that you bruise the child's bottom then that is abuse. And from what I seen in my grandson's school there should have been more spankings.kids in 6 grade being bullies. If I had been a bullie at their age I bet my bottom would have been red. That's what is wrong with the kids today being selfish. answering back is because the parents couldn't correct them in anyway harsh. So the government had their nose in everyone business again. Now they see the big problem with teens today. No discipline but it's now OK for police to tazzar teens and if they die from it and to them it's no big deal.Only parents do the suffering.Well I tell you there is many ways to discipline besides terrorizing a child.Read up onto books and you'll get all the information you need.

You make a good point. I get a lot of grief from people when I say the same thing. There has to be a better way to discipline children. Even if there weren't, I would rather my children behave badly than to fear me because I hit them. What does it teach, anyway? It taught me that if I did something wrong, pain would be inflicted upon me. I can't imagine why a parent would willingly and knowing inflict pain upon a child for any reason. That is a child they are hitting, not an inanimate object.

actually, in Australia you can be charged, however the police and legal system and community services tend to look at eh bigger picture in order to decide if you have really assaulted your child or merely given them an infrequent if not inappropriate form of discipline, i dont believe in spanking a child and have never done it myself, but god ive felt like it sometimes, dont be too judgemental, we are all human and all make mistakes

If you spend nine months caring the bastard, it's your God given right to beat the sh*t out of YOUR kids if you want when they act up. Plus, why do you care. Kids need discipline, why do you think they grow up to be losers and sh*t that get arrested every other day.
