Well, the posters above me are correct, depending on whether you are trying to conceive, one can prescribe birth control to produce a period every month.
Glucophage(Metformin as its also called) is given because in a large number of cases, women who suffer from PCOS also have something called insulin resistance, which is your body producing tons of insulin, but it isn't able to penetrate through the cells.
In some cases, if you are not getting periods, you can be given Provera or Prometrium(progesterone), which helps induce a period and shed the endometrial lining. Not shedding the lining can lead to endometrial cancer, so it is very important to have a period at least every second month.

I use the pill (the brand I'm using right now is Lo/Ovral but Desogen is one that is often used for PCOS, same with Yasmin) and a medication to keep testosterone levels low called Aldactone.

Some women use Glucophage (a medication for treating Diabetes) as well because some of them have insulin resistance (one step below full-blown Diabetes).

And then others sometimes just use dietary changes such as low-carb diets to help.

The only one that I have ever taken is Metformin.
