OB/GYN is its own specialty under the Medicine degree if one is becoming a dr.

Most OB/GYN residencies (this is a program that trains a new dr to become an OB/GYN, other specialties have similar programs) are 4 years in length.

You have to go through general medical school THEN you can specialize in whatever you want. you cant just major in ob/gyn.

Ob/GYN isn't a major.

It's a speciality, and you would go into it after you've completed--graduated from--medical school.

It would be part of your residency.

That is because it is not a major.
You major in Bio, Chem or PreMed.
Then you go to Medical school.
Then you do internship.
Then you so a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Does that clear things up for you?
