Not at all, perfectly normal. I came out properly last year (I'm 22 too) and everyone was like "finally you've realised, we've known for ages". I think the most important thing is that you have to be comfortable and happy in yourself before you can open yourself up to vulnerabilty.
I have a male bi friend and his mum came out at 40 as gay.
I dont think there is ever going to be any predjudice against the age people come out :-)

I think 22 is still pretty young. I am a youth worker at a gay/lesbian/bi/trans youth group and the age goes up to 25 (like most glbt youth groups in my area) so according to that your still a young person.
I'm 24 now and am still meeting people my age and older who are coming out and I know I will be meeting others all through my life. I'll never think less of them for coming out later than me.
I personally think its more so in the bi community- because you have the added confusion of liking people of the opposite sex as well.
Do you have anyone who you can talk to? Do you know anyone in your area who is also bi? I recommend getting in touch with yr local gay/lesbian switchboard and asking if there's any support in your area if you feel that could help.

The right age for coming out is just when you feel you are ready. I came out at 18 because i was in a relationship i wanted people to know about, and i was 100% comfortable with who i am!

Oh George, you are not old. Coming out is a process that has no time line. I think that you are feeding into the negativity of sexuality in our society. You are living your truth, good for you. Now that you have embraced your identity, why not focus on committing to your choice and live your best life possible. You have at least 60 years ahead of you. You should be excited, for you have great adventures, lessons, and a healthy life ahead. You have doubled your chamces of finding the right person suited to your wants and needs- how lucky you are! good luck George

Does it matter?
Why do you need to "come out"?
Aren't you happy enough with you without the need for others to pat you on the back just for being you?
You probably feel old because you've already passed all the confusing stages of your life that you'd expect to come across so far and its really when you'd normally be settled that you've found yourself making a big statement.
But like I said, I dont understand, and will never understand, the need to "come out".
Bi, gay, lesbian straight, we're all just people and we like what we like. Leave it at that.

No it's not old & congratulations! I have just come out as a lesbian at 33! I wish I could have accepted myself & come out at your age, I would have saved myself quite a few years of unecessary anguish! There is no right or wrong age for coming out as gay or bisexual as everyone is different & has a different set of circumstances. Good luck to you & well done for making this decision.

George age is not the issue ,it depends on how you feel ,if you want to face the world then you do so for you .I knew a chap who did just that at 19 ,back in 1979 he is now a successful bussiness man ,he is not bisexual ,100%gay and proud ,owns his own pub&restaurant now .Good luck.

I'm 22 and I just came out two months ago; everyone's timing is different, it all depends on family, the community you grew up in, the friends you had. Either way don't sweat it, life is too short to worry about whether you're timing is right. Hope it helps. =)

its the perfect age, but are you sure you are bi? i am from brighton and i found that the gay female community was pretty closed when it comes to bisexual women, you are seen as a heart breaker, or just indecisive. now i am happy being bisexual, although men have a problem with it cos they think i will leave for a woman and damage their fragile ego, and women have an issue with it cos they think i am just 'experiementing'. other than that its a perfect age, you go for it babes. enjoy this time!

I think that u need to come out when u are ready. There is no time limit. Who cares how old u are just as long as u were the one that wanted to do this and no one made u.
