D: drive full on new hp even after defrag, cleanup, restore, recover to factory settings, should i be worried

I don't want to erase wrong files please advise, this happened after I did my first back up and chose D: I think there may be a duplicate of files, but it won't allow me to view, states it's the partition. I have Windows Vista Home Premium

D: may well just be a recovery partition and only used by the system restore disk
