We are going to be getting a washer and dryer delivered the beginning of next month. Its going to go into a little room near the back door. The room is about 6 feet by 6 feet. There is already hook ups in the room from the previous tenants. Since we lived here I had the room filled with boxes. Now Im moving the boxes off the wall where the hook-ups are and realized there is no outlet on that wall. how do we plug it in? There is a outlet on the opposite wall. Is it possible that they used a extension cord?

It doesnt seem safe to use a extension cord. Home Depot is going to deliver and instal them. I dont know Home Depot will allow that. We already paid for them to hook it up. I would ask my landlord but the landlords girlfriend is jelous of me so when I call she hangs up on me. I have to wait till my BF gets home to call him.

They make SPECIAL appliance extension cords!

Make sure you get the one that says it is for appliances, will say right on the package; they aren't that expensive. I think I paid like $12 for mine. {for my fridge}

You can usually pick them up at any hardware store like Ace, etc..

If you use an extension cord, it MUST be heavy duty. Ask at the hardware store. You want 12 gauge wires in the cord (expensive) or at least 14. Shorter is better. You really should have an electrician do it right...

They likely used an extension cord. However, you could cut a hole in the wall and tap that socket to form a new outlet for your wall. You could do this, but I would have an electrician do this for obvious reasons. But it isn't that difficult. Rather, it is time consuming because one must be very careful to do it correctly.

They must have used one... I don't see why you couldn't.
