this is a "update" i asked a question a few months ago and i kinda 4got 2 update it, anyways my mom n this guy r still 2gether but he agreed 2 do consuling and crap, we didn't wanna go bk home but we did late august, last year, our grandparents said we can come bk anytime but we haven't came back i stay far away 4rm him now and so does my brother most of the time i lock myself in my room or go with my friends my brother does the same my mom feels so hurt cuz she thinks we shouldn't act this way but i'm still afraid and i want 2 avoid anything 2 do with that man i mean its bad enough i have 2 stay there well anyways i hope this answered any1's questions and btw we did tell the cops but my mom made me not press charges.....

Yes, it's very normal for you to wanna keep your distance from the man. I think it's very wrong that your mom is still with him-but hey, maybe he'll change one day.
My advice to you is to tell your Mom WHY you are avoiding him. Tell her that you feel uncomfortable around the guy and how you just want to give him space and not get involved in another situation with him. Your Mom really needs to understand how you feel.
If she doesn't you need to go to school and talk to a counselor. Tell the counselor what's up and see if he or she can help you figure out what further steps to take to help your Mom get that you don't like that man and would like to keep your distance from him. It may feel awkward or make you think, "I don't wanna talk to a school counselor..." but counselors are at school for a reason. Trust me, they can help you figure out what to do and nobody will find out about your family issue either. It'll remain confidential-counselors can't go telling people things about the students they help.
