Lately my friend (14) has been having REALLYY over-extended periods, which are very unfluent. She'll be on it for anywhere between 11-25 days. She says that after its over, it comes back a week or two later. She tells me how she leaks through super thick maxi pads, every 2 hours. This sounds HIGHLY dangerous, but she doesn't seem to be bothered bad enough to go to the doctor.
My mom (41) recently had the same problem, and had to have her uterus burned, scraped, and finally just completely taken out.

I'm wondering if this could be similar to what my friend has?

Tell your friend to talk to a doctor about. She can get medicine to lighten her periods and make them more regular (although it might be birth control, I'm sure if this is an issue her parents will be okay with it. She can just ask for "medicine")

Your friend definitely needs to see her doctor about this. It's not normal for any woman to have a period last that long, or that heavy. However, it is unusual for a 14 year old to have to have intervention, like your mom did, to correct the problem. Please have her seek medical attention. You're a great friend to be concerned.

I doubt that your mom and your friend share the same problem. Your friend should see her doctor so that she can get her periods under control. She should ask her mom to make her an appointment.

She needs to see a doctor. Offer to go with her. This is not normal and there could be many, many reasons why this is happening.

Your friend needs to talk to her mom. This is serious. If she doesn't get to a dr about this, she could literally bleed to death. Not trying to scare you, or your friend, but I am trying to help.
