This is a hard drive with a lot of information on that I really need to access.
I bought a dynex usb 2.0 hard drive enclosure kit, but my computer won't recognize the external hard drive.

u may need to go into bios and manually set the drive parameters ... cylinders/heads/sectors on the drives label ..

I think it is possible, but it would be eaiser to return the enclosure kit, and take the drive to a best buy. GeekSquad will transfer your data for a fee.

No you can't because it needs a power source and will be exposed to the elements. What does this kit do anyways, and have you read the instructions. YOu shoud get a Western Digital 250GB My Book.
