The Mayan calendar ends in 2012--nobody knows why. Also, somebody back in the 1970s (I think) did some calculations and decided the earth will be terminally overpopulated in 2012. Of course, population growth figures have changed some since then, and as for the Mayans, I really don't put much stock in their supposed ability to know exactly when the world will end. I don't know what you think of the Bible, but it says "no one [except God] knows the day or the hour" when the world will end. So, I'm really not worrying about it. If the world's going to end in 2012, there's not a thing I can do about it except make sure my life's in order by then. And if it's not going to end in 2012, all I'd be doing stressing over it is giving myself a nervous breakdown.
