HEY dont get misunderstood but this is for a special science project, cuz i already bought both brands of pencils ... Anyways, just wonderin` which has a better quality of graphite core - PENTECH or STAPLES pencils? if theres a way you can tell the difference fo the quality of graphite core, please post! ty ty <3333333

Between the two, I would guess PENTECH--but that's only a guess. If you visit an arts and supply store, or a drafting store, you'll probably find the highest quality graphite cores. HB lead is the same as #2, so you could use that as a reference. If you can find Staedtler, or some other drafting brand, you'll probably have a good idea of what a high quality graphite core is like.

You might try using the pencils on vellum, rolling the pencil along a straightedge to compare the uniformness of the lines. A good quality pencil should spread the graphite very evenly.

pentech.....u can tell by the way they write i have done this befor too (and which one breaks less easy).
