If washing the dishes is the worst problem you have in life, you should go give your parents each a kiss right now and thank them for providing you such a comfortable, easy life.

I think it is wise of your folks to make you take some responsibilities in the house regardless of the task but in this intance it is dishes. I had to do dishes at times and by hand because my parents had no money for a dishwasher. It was considered a luxery item in their eyes. Besides that my teen daughter does dishes at my house by hand and has not requested a dishwasher though it would be nice. Besides why should they buy an appliance to make life easy for you because you do not want to spend 15 to 30 minutes doing a chore that for centuries was done by hand? Maybe your folks also do not have the funds for a new dishwasher. I really think these meanial chores are good for you as they were for the rest of us.

No. Why buy a dishwasher when you already have one? YOU are their dishwasher. I couldn't resist saying that as that's what my parents said to me because we didn't ever have a dishwasher. Come on though--it's not that bad. Dishes can be done in 15-20 minutes if you do them well.

Why spend money on a dishwasher when they have you?
Seriously - just help out a little. They do a LOT for you - washing dishes is the least you can do in return.

Join the club. We HAVE dishwasher, but that's what kids are for: cleaning and doing the dishes.

No, why should they, unless you go out and buy it for them. Washing and drying the dishes is getting out of it lightly, many many people have to do more than that. Be grateful.

Oh hun, this is where they would say they already have one...you. And if you are living in thier house, maybe they are spending thier money on you and not a dishwasher. Good luck with that argument!

No, it's fair. I do EVERYTHING in the house and my older sis who lives here as well doesn't do anything. I'm the one stuck with all the chores, so be thankful, hun. Plus, a dishwasher costs money.....unneccessary money.
