What is the tradition behind this? Do you know any other similar wedding traditions?

I had never heard of it until I went to a friends wedding and they said it was very popular. I also see it coming up alot in wedding magazines.... wouldn't the cha cha slide be more fun?

the French do it. La Danse Des Canards, but I have never seen it a wedding, but a kid gathering.

They do it to loosen up the guests. It is popular at Oktoberfest.

The throwing of rice is to wish for fertility.

I dont know about anyone else but have you ever noticed it's usually at the end of the night?(when most people are sloshed)

Ever do the chicken dance at a skating rink? It's pretty funny watching people do it while roller skating!
