Duncan is the most friendly character in the whole play because he compliments Macbeth and Banquo for their efforts during war (Act 1, Scene 2) adn he rewards them with titles (Thane of Cawdor, etc) and he is very honest, trustful, innocent, and a fair person because he goes to Macbeth's home feeling welcome by Macbeth and Lady Macbeth and fully trust them and never would suspect of them, and he went to their home without knowing that he was going to be killed that night. but in those times being King was more important than loyalty so Duncan was a person that could be defined as a person with a different mentality from the rest of the people in those times but we don't exactly know. To be short and specific he was a great King who did things fair and square, rewarded the good ones and killed the bad guys (he finds out that the Thane of Cawdor, the one that was before Macbeth, was cheating or betrayed Duncan so he hangs him).
That's all I can say but there is not much to analize about this character's personality due to the fact that his appereance is very short.
I'm sure that if you read the book you can figure something else out. Wish you luck!!
