hope is one of my favorite ideas...
sometimes you have to change your hopes when one thing doesnt work out, but a basic hope, a basic belief that things can get better is all I personally need.
I like to remember the story of pandora's box, and how hope was the last little thing in the box left to help man deal with all the horrors of the world. how you use hope is up to you, how you concieve it...its individual for each person. I dont think hope needs a guarantee since hope is often what is left to you when you have NO guarantee, nothing to look forward to or fall back on. hope is a very real thing for me as I have in the past spent a lot of time thinking about it, it may not work for everyone but for me when i'm really down just mustering up the energy to get through the day and surrounding yourself with the things you love as best you can is enough to begin to foster good feelings, and a sense of hope in me. maybe watching a funny movie, anything that will take your mind off your troubles and force you to laugh. you may fall , and crash and be down and blue but with a little determination I think you can find hope, it may not always be aparent, you may not feel it, but if you are secure in the fact that it is there in you, that you can feel hope and carry on then I believe you can bring it out in yourself. for me, hope is something we all can have, we all have the ability to feel hope we just need to get in touch with it and do our best to bring it out, even if thats not always easy. hope that helps.

Hope is kind of a vague idea, isn't it?
But if you don't have something to look forward to,then life is meaningless. But you cannot guarantee many things in life. Hope is kind of anticipation of something good happening in the future. That anticipation is the motivation to keep on trudging through life's ups and downs. What you have to determine for yourself is what it is that you hope for. So hope has immense value.
Probably didn't answer your question, but I hope that you have a better day tomorrow.

When you are hopeful that a situation might change you are not allowing yourself to go into the depths of despair.
As long as there is life, there is hope that things will get better and you will have better times.. When there is no hope then life might as well be over.

It depends on what you hope for.
If you hope that everything will be ok in this life then you’re in for a great disappointment. If you hope that the coming kingdom of God will make everything all right then you have reason to hope.
Man hasn't changed any in 750000 years. What makes you think that he will if he doesn't even understand the question. Hope is being a child of God and not the dust of the earth. Put not your hope in this world but in that of The Creator of this world through his son. Simple.
(Col 1:27) To whom God would make known what [is] the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
(Tts 1:2) In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
(Tts 3:7) That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
(Col 1:27) To whom God would make known what [is] the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
(1Jo 3:3( And every man that hath this hope in him ( Jesus) purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
(Hbr 3:6) But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
(Hbr 6:11) And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:

There are no guarentees in life.
Hope comes and goes. To give it up doesn't mean you can't get it back. To feel let down doesn't mean you won't ever hope again. You can even give hope to someone else yet keep it yourself. Often things seem hopeless, but there are always second, thrird, fourhth etc chances.

One crappy day, hope gets you through to the next room . hope is like the only set of keys you can use when you really need to get through a difficult situation.

I think that 'hope' is our unconscious capability to build or 'see' or go towards our future Sometimes, all of us, we lose the direction or the aim of our mind. In those moments I take my times and I turn my look back. Normally I return hoping in the future, not only in mine, but generally in the man. Wishes.

i do not think so. hope in my opinion is useless. in less hope gives you courage to continue living the rest of that day and tomorrow then hope is useless. to me tiss useless, but i will admit i know some who consider hope to be as important as church three times a week so it depends on who you are.

And a very important one: Direction(focus).
A lot of people feel hopeless. You have to be very careful where you put your hope.
