My friends all play softball and they want me to play to. I have never played softball ever and try outs are in 2 weeks. My dad coaches my brothers baseball team so i could get him to help me but is it even worth trying?

I think that if you are a hard-worker and a fast-learner, you will easily be able to turn this experience into an enjoyable one. Not only will you learn the rules of a great game, but you will be given the oppurtunity to spend time with friends, and that's all we really want in life. I think that if you put your mind to it, you can do it. Luckily, the odds are in your favor, because most of the more-talented softball players would try out for junior-varsity or varsity, rather than freshmen softball. I don't want to say "It's just a freshman team," but in all honesty, "It's just a freshman team." Normally every player is able to make freshman team, besides the few extremely bad players that don't try hard and don't really care. If you give it a good shot, hustle out on the field, pay attention when the coach is talking, and show some sort of interest in the game, you should be able to make the team. If this really means something to you, I'm sure you will take this advice and try out for the team. You never know, you could surprise yourself.

ADVICE:

Before trying out, DEFINITELY get your father to help you. He can show you proper throwing/batting mechanics, and work with you so you are able to look halfway decent at tryouts. I have tried out for baseball teams in the past (and made them, fortunately), and the worst thing to do is not hustle. TRY YOUR HARDEST; SHOW SOME INTEREST! All you have to do is sprint onto and off of the softball field, and you might just draw the attention of the coach. He/she will think "Wow, that girl really has a good attitude." If the talent level is low, that might be all you need to make the roster.

GOOD LUCK!

Why not try it? I mean, even if you don't make, it doesn't mean that it's a waste of time. You can still make it unless previous experience is required. If you're good, they'll take you whether or not you've ever played before. Good luck if you do try out. The only way to ensure that you don't make it is to not even try.

Hey, I honestly believe that a true dedicated person can do whatever they set their mine to do. Just make sure to be realistic. If you plan to make the team then work as hard as you can by staying healthy, staying focused, and putting your heart into it. Also if your religious keep God #1. "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all will be given unto you". Matt6:33

It is much simpler than baseball...learn baseball from your dad and you will be a star softball player.

I don't see why you can't.

Can you catch the ball and at least hit it once in a while, if you can.

You are in like Flynn.

I would just try it and see what happens. Ask your dad for advice.
