Is it ok to say look at that pretty black woman instead of just saying that pretty woman? I am white and love the differences in the colors of people and maybe pay attention too much. I hope that we don't ever become all one race or one color. I was in a mixed marriage so I'm not against mixing but is it ok to like the differences and want them too? Is that a type of racisim? If it is, is it exceptable?

appreciation. I was constantly thinking: "What an asian darling/what a black beauty/what a white honey/what a brown angel" back in my single days when I rode Bart (metro) and believe me it was complete appreciation!

Identification. We "must" in many instances "purposely" use the word black, or white, or hispanic, or whatever.
We have been through this before with news casters, or in police profiles. If you are looking for an armed bank robber, it would be very helpful to know if you are looking for a white person or not.
This is why so-called "racial profiling" is so important. We must profile.
As for your pretty woman-if she is all alone-then a color identification would not be necessary. If there are several women around of different colors-then how would anyone know who you were talking about.

Some people just think that its a little offensive thats all, its not racist.
My sisters hubby called her his "Black Angel" and she was not too thrilled about it. (Incase you haven't figured it out, he is white)

She would rather be called an "angel" not a "black angel". lol....

a single persons life is not complete, untill they smear a lot of lables all over others, to make them look better and more exceptable than others.
