This could be breakthrough bleeding which can act a lot like a menstrual period. Breakthrough bleeding is any bleeding that occurs at times other than the actual period. Its could be caused from not being able to handle a birth control pill well if the hormone amount such as on the estrogen is too low but to be on the safe side I would recommend that she see her dr.

Could be a couple reasons, but first and foremost... has she bothered to see the Dr? That might be a good thing to do first. Is she taking any kinds of blood thinning meds, like aspirin? Also, is she on birth control, because I've heard certain ones do that to people. Either way... you guys might want to get that checked!

Well, some birth control pills make you spot for several months until your body adjusts. Did she start the pill or get the Depo shot recently?

she could have on of the several medical conditions that are associated with women who have bad monthly periods. she should see her doctor if this is a on going thing, especially if you guys plan on having children in the future.

some girls have very irregular periods, months long (seriously!!) Hopefully, her DR is aware of this. Birth Control can help regulate this
