I need to buy a guitar for my friends sweet sixteen. Shes an absolute music fanatic, and loves the guitar. My friends and I want to buy her a guitar that will make her birthday worthwhile and also embroider her name on the insturment. We're all willing to spend about 200-600 on the purchase, and i was wondering what kind of guitar i should get her (the best brand and/or make if possible in the price range) and also information about how we can embroider her name professionally (dumb question, but before or after the guitar is bought?). Keep in mind shes a begginner but, id like to give her a good quality intrument. Electric acoustic or acoustic is perferable.

For $200 - $600, you should definitely look at the Taylor Big Baby or even the 100 series guitars. The Big Baby is an awesome first guitar, it's a 15/16 size dreadnaught and has great tone.

Takamine is a good brand and makes some nice stuff in your price range. Ovations don't sound too great unless they're plugged in, and the lower end Ovation are poor sounding. There are a few Martins in your price range but they're not solid wood (but neither is the Big Baby). Seagull and Simon and Patrick are guitars out of Canada that are pretty good.

For your price range, you are either going to be getting a non-solid wood (two or three plys) acoustic, or a solid wood or ply acoustic that is made overseas. Solid wood guitars are always better as a rule of thumb, and the guitars made overseas are very good these days.

As far as embroidering her name, you can't do it on the guitar itself. Maybe you can do it on a guitar strap. Leave the guitar unmodified. If she's serious about playing guitar she'll probably sell it and step up to a better guitar, and it's hard to sell a guitar when it has "Mary" or whatever on it.

Go to Musiciansfriend.com. Look at the Martins. They have a little Martin. It's about $300. Also a D1X is about $500 I think. Not only will she have a quality instrument, but if any of her friends play , she will e the envy of them. Anything that says Martin on the headstock is known to be the best.

carry the previous strings to the music keep and discover out what length they're. you do no longer in all danger desire to alter the thickness of the strings on the grounds which will substitute the stress on the neck and you will could make truss rod and bridge ameliorations. so a ways as type you have some solid innovations here. i individually like the D'addarios. they supply the impact of being to final longer.
