i totally understand what she is going through. I do it too. Cutting is our way of drugs or smoking or drinking. some people do those things to get rid of the pain, we do this. Believe it or not, it is something very addicting. I'd say its probably close to smoking. You can't really do anything for her. If she wants help, she'll help herself. Just be a good friend and be there to support her. Until she is ready to admit she has a problem, what I did is I wet a goal like go 2 days without cutting, then 2 more days and I've been trying to break myself of it. Instead right now though, I have a broken hand because just like smoking, it is very frusterating breaking the habit. (I punched a cement wall). I wish you the best of luck.
p.s.
a lot of people say go to a councelor and talk, well they don't help. They are just people getting paid to listen to your problems and presecribe medicine and tell your parents you're crazy. your friend may have a chemical embalance and may ned medicine for it, but i personally think its all in your head. I stopped taking medicine because it doesn't work for me. but your friend may have different results.

the thing is, cutting yourself is something that is addicting as any drug, you have to keep doing it, and you don't know why. The best thing to do is make it so she physically can't cut herself. cooperate with her to give you blades, knifes, etc. what she uses. And a couseler or some adult to talk to about it. Cause it's only worse trying to quit on your own. I'm really sorry for her and your situation, and I hope this helps. I had the same problem, no you, but your friend's position, so i kinda know what she's going through to a cetain point. It gets out of hand easily though, so I really hoped this help.

She needs to get some professional help.. maybe courage her to go talk to a school counselor and then they can help her from there.
Usually cutting yourself is because the people who do it want attention.. maybe she feels like when her parents are mad, she will make them see something that would draw attention to her and feel sorry for her. I don't know but if she says that she wants to stop doing that, then by all means tell her that she can go talk to her counselor and they are confidential.

She's a cutter, it is a well known psychological problem. It stems from depression and fear. The cutting comes from wanting to feel something because she doesn't feel normally. She needs to learn to open up and talk to "anyone", but the best thing for her is to talk to a professional, a school councilor, or psychologist. This issue will not resolve itself and can lead to deep depression and even worse problems down the line.

Try and speak to a counselor. Or look in your local phone book and call a hospital. You can ask questions over the phone without giving them your name and they will be able to at least lead you in the right direction. I want to commend you on being such a great friend. With a friend like you, your friend will be able to get help and feel better soon. Just try and get the help as soon as possible. The sooner the better. Best wishes to you.

You are a great friend!! You obviously care very much for your friend. She needs professional help... there's very little you can do or say that will get her to stop cutting herself. There are counselors who specialize in this type of problem which is who she needs to go to. The best thing you can do is huge her to get this professional help! Good luck, and hang in there!

Gosh this isnt good at all. If you really care for your friend talk to your school counseler. If you dont have one talk to your parents. Even if the girl says dont DO IT. After cutting yourself a long period of time you could accidently slit you wrist and there is no reparing a vien or important blood vessel. PLEASE HELP YOUR FRIEND WITH MY ADVICE!!! to many teen are killing themselves over family disputes and problems. IF YOU REALLY CARE FOR HER DO IT! AND DO IT FAST!
i hope everything turn out ok. God Bless

Tell a counselor in your school...you could even send them an anonymous note. All in all you need to get your friend some help...fast! What she is suffering from is coping mechanism, and a wrong one at that...she needs to see a psychologist and i think getting ahold of your school's counselor will be the first step to your friend getting healthy

Just do what i did to my ex-cutter friend. I just checked her wrists every day and make sure she's ok. Help her with her self esteem. My friend used to hate herself. Now she loves every bit of her. Leave it alone after you check. Dont go all out and criticize her. That makes it worse. Just be a good example and keep being friends with her. Seriously i used to slap my friend every time she cut herself so it stopped REAL fast.

well i dont have any friends like that but i do have friends with simular problems...you see the only way that you can get her to stop that i can think of is to tell her how much she means to you and that you want her to stop and that when her parents are mad at her...she can call you...cause you willl be there for her all of the time...that is only if you really love her( as a friend)
